OZZY & "SLOWHAND"

Ozzy Osbourne has released a new video for "One Of These Days" -- his 2022 collaboration with Eric Clapton, who is not featured in the clip.

Ozzy's new Patient Number 9 album marks Ozzy's 13th solo set and also features guest spots from such other guitar legends as Ozzy's Black Sabbath bandmate Tommy Iommi, Jeff Beck, Zakk Wylde, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, and Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme.

OZZY ROCKS THE NFL

On Thursday night (September 8th) Ozzy Osbourne performed the halftime show at L.A.'s SoFi Stadium when the Los Angeles Rams took on the Buffalo Bills.

Although only a portion his appearance aired on TV, "The Prince Of Darkness" performed the title track to his new Patient Number 9 album -- with guitarist Zack Wylde joining Osbourne for a run-through of "Crazy Train." Backing Ozzy were producer Andrew Watt on guitar, Chris Chaney on bass, and Tommy Clufetos on drums.

The two-song set marked Ozzy's first U.S. appearance since the 2019 American Music Awards.

Doctor Clears The Weeknd To Perform Again Later This Month

Days after losing his voice onstage and having to cancel his Los Angeles concert, The Weeknd has been cleared by his doctor to continue singing.

He's currently resting his voice and says according to his physician, he'll be "solid" by the time he plays his hometown of Toronto on September 22.

He posted the update online and assured fans that the LA date is being rescheduled and an announcement would be made soon.

In case you missed it over the holiday weekend, during the Los Angeles concert on Sept. 3, he lost his voice while in the middle of belting out his single "Can't Feel My Face." He ran off stage mid-performance and later came back and canceled the rest of the show.

  • The Weeknd has been cleared by his doctor to continue singing.
  • He's currently resting his voice and says according to his physician, he'll be "solid" by the time he plays his hometown of Toronto on September 22.

Rockers Pay Tribute To Queen Elzabeth II

The rock community has come out in force to salute Britain's late-Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8th at age 97.

The shortest Beatles song in the band's catalogue was Paul McCartney's 23-second paean to the Queen, titled "Her Majesty." At the time of Abbey Road's original release in September 1969, McCartney spoke about the inspiration for the set's only fully acoustic track: "I don't know, y'know, I was in Scotland, and I was just writing this little tune. I can never tell, like, how tunes come out. I wrote this tune and it happened to start off 'Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl. . . ' I mean, you could refer, like they refer to a girl as, y'know, 'Lady,' or 'girl,' y'know, like 'Lady Madonna,' or just some sort of name you call a girl. It could be that, too, y'know, 'Her Majesty' (exaggerated accent) worshiping your girlfriend or your wife."

ROCKERS REMEMBER QUEEN ELIZABETH II

Paul McCartney: "God bless Queen Elizabeth II. May she rest in peace. Long live The King."

Ringo Starr: "God bless Queen Elizabeth peace and love to all the family peace and love Ringo."

Julian Lennon: "Rest in Peace Dear Queen Elizabeth II."

Yoko Ono & Sean Lennon: "We would like to send out deepest sympathy to the Royal family following the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II; a strong and powerful woman whose seventy year reign was served with integrity, dignity, grace and compassion. With love, Yoko and Sean Ono Lennon."

The Beatles: "Thank you Ma'am. With love and gratitude. From all at Apple."

The Rolling Stones: "The Rolling Stones extend their deepest sympathy to the Royal family on the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, who was a constant presence in their lives as in countless others."

Mick Jagger: "For my whole life Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II has always been there. In my childhood I can recall watching her wedding highlights on TV. I remember her as a beautiful young lady, to the much beloved grandmother of the nation. My deepest sympathies are with the Royal family."

Elton John: "Along with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's passing. She was an inspiring presence to be around and led the country through some of our greatest and darkest moments with grace, decency and a genuine caring warmth. Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day, and I will miss her dearly."

Barbra Streisand: "Sad to hear about the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. She was a constant for us all. Respected around the world. May she rest in peace. Barbra."

Ozzy Osbourne: "I mourn with my country the passing of our greatest Queen. With a heavy heart I say it is devastating the thought of England without Queen Elizabeth II"

Geezer Butler: Sad to hear of The Queen passing. I remember the street celebrations when she was crowned Queen. Always a staple of growing up in England. GSTQ- RIP"

Duran Duran: "Her Majesty the Queen has presided over the UK for longer than any other British monarch. She dedicated her life to the people and set an extraordinary example to the world throughout her reign. She's seen changes that are beyond what any of us can imagine. She has faced challenges that she has risen to time and again. Her life has been remarkable in so many ways. We will all miss her and are grateful for the incredible service she gave to the people of Great Britain and the countries of the Commonwealth. We send our deepest condolence to the royal family. Her death brings to an end a long and unique chapter in the history of the United Kingdom and the world."

Joe Elliott: "Dignity. If there's ever one word to describe this wonderful lady & monarch it's dignity. We will never see the likes of this again."

Bryan Adams: "RIP Queen Elizabeth II"

Jon Bon Jovi: "Queen Elizabeth was the ultimate example of service and duty… today is a sad day."

Annie Lennox: "I just found out that HRH the Queen has peacefully passed away. One of my early memories from the late 50's, is standing on the roadside among a crowd of people, waving little Union Jack flags as we waited for the royal car to drive by. The Queen had arrived to open a new bridge on the outskirts of Aberdeen. It all felt very grand and festive, with everyone hoping to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty. Tremendous excitement and expectation was in the air. Suddenly the grandest Rolls Royce limousine appeared and I remember the glimpse of a gloved royal hand waving behind the window. Then it was all over in a flash and the Queen had gone. A monarch's life is lived with two distinct sides. One is as an outwards facing public figure and representative of their country, and the other is as a human being and private person. There is a difference between the two. Queen Elizabeth came from a time in history when there was still a modicum of separation between them. Gradually over time the world changed, and the outside world via the media had more ‘access' to the ‘private' world than ever before. I think she did an incredible job of staying on course throughout the extraordinary events of her reign and her lifetime. Whether you happen to be pro or anti monarchy, there's no question that she totally performed her duties par excellence right up to a few days before her passing. I doubt that anyone can compare to her. Britain has lost one of it's most outstanding monarchs, the like of which I doubt will ever be seen again. R.I.P Queen Elizabeth."

Liz Phair: I am in no way cool w a post QEII world. Don't lecture me about imperialism; she was NOT an absolute monarch (a system founded by men) and never tried to be. She knew with exquisite precision the bounds of her tricky role, and I adored her for maintaining it so elegantly."

Coldplay's Money Problems Nearly Halted World Tour

Chris Martin has revealed Coldplay's extremely successful, Music of the Spheres World Tour almost didn't happen due to a "big financial crisis".

Referring to losses from the COVID-19 pandemic, Martin told The Sun newspaper that when touring wasn't possible, it became financially stressful, which they hadn't had before. They had to make some changes and get financial help that ultimately saved the tour.

He said, "This tour was about trying new things and some of them work and some don't. We are so lucky that we can survive and sustain losses and that's OK."

The band is currently amid a mammoth jaunt in support of their ninth studio album.

Legendary Jimi Hendrix 1969 L.A. Forum Show Coming In November

Coming on November 18th is Jimi Hendrix Experience - Los Angeles Forum: April 26, 1969. The new archival set will be issued on double-LP vinyl and CD -- as well as all digital platforms. The original concert featured such opening acts as Chicago Transit Authority -- soon-to-be renamed Chicago -- and Cat Mother & The All Night Newsboys, who shared management with Hendrix. Floor seats cost $6.50 -- that's $51.20 in 2022 dollars.

According to the announcement, Hendrix was quite vocal during the show telling the crowd before "Red House": "Everybody want to know what America's soul is; everybody think it's Motown . . . America's soul is something more like this here" and joking during "Purple Haze": "'Scuse me while I kiss that policeman!" Hendrix went on to dedicate "Spanish Castle Magic" to "the plain clothes police out there and other goofballs." Prior to "The Star Spangled Banner" Hendrix quipped: "Here's a song we was all brainwashed with."

Interestingly, the Experience opened the gig with "Tax Free" -- an obscure 1967 instrumental tune by Swedish duo Hansson & Karlsson with whom Hendrix and the band had previously performed alongside in Stockholm.

On July 7th, 1969, Jimi Hendrix appeared on ABC's The Dick Cavett Show and explained how he felt that music was becoming the definitive and truest form of communication: "It's getting to me more spiritual so. . . than anything now. Pretty soon I believe that we have to rely on music to get some peace of mind or some satisfaction -- direction, actually. More so than politics, because, like, politics is really an ego scene. It's the art of words, which means nothing, y'know? So, therefore, you have to rely on more of an Earthier substance -- like music."

The tracklist to Jimi Hendrix Experience - Los Angeles Forum: April 26, 1969 is:

Intro
"Tax Free"
"Foxey Lady"
"Red House"
"Spanish Castle Magic"
"Star Spangled Banner"
"Purple Haze"
"I Don't Live Today"
"Voodoo Child (Slight Return)"
"Sunshine Of Your Love"
"Voodoo Child (Slight Return)"

Ozzy Osbourne's Patient Number 9' Out Today

Out today (September 9th) is Ozzy Osbourne's latest album, Patient Number 9 -- which marks Ozzy's 13th solo set, which was once again produced by Andrew Watt.

Patient Number 9 features guest spots by such legendary players Black Sabbath bandmate Tommy Iommi, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Jeff Beck, Guns N' Roses' Duff McKagan, Zakk Wylde, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme, and former Ozzy bassist and current Metallica member Robert Trujillo.

During a chat with Kerrang!, Ozzy explained the impetus for heading into the studio again: "I've always got to be doing something. I can't sit still, me. I've got attention deficit disorder, so I can't stay in one place too long. I've got to keep moving. (The) Ordinary Man (album) had come together quite quickly. So I said to Andrew, 'Are we gonna do another album?' He just said, 'Yeah!'"

He went on to say, "I never say, ‘Oh I'm going to do an album (about this or that) -- I just co-write with people. It's like a relationship when you're making a record. Andrew and I always start off friendly. We fall out. We get back together again. At the end of the day you get married to it. Then again, if making records was that easy, everyone would be doing it!"

In recent years, Ozzy Osbourne, who's now 73, has dealt with a seemingly non-stop string of health issues -- including a nasty fall, the onset of Parkinson's disease, multiple staph infections, pneumonia, the flu, a burst blood vessel in his eye -- and most recently, "life-altering" surgery that involved removing and realigning pins in his neck and back.

Ozzy has told us before that he's often wondered how he's still alive: "I went to my doctor a while ago and he says to me, 'Y'know what? You're a testament to what the human body can take.' Y'know, Keith Richards, he smokes, he drinks vodka like there's no tomorrow, he used to do heroin, y'know? I don't know how that guy's sucking in air."

Ozzy told us a while back that his life and career have gone further than he ever imagined: "I come from a very low, working class family in Birmingham, England. I would sit on my doorstep thinking, 'Wouldn't it be great if Paul McCartney was to marry my sister, la la la,' and all these daydreams that silly kids have. And what I say to a lot of people, they say what advice can you give me, and I go, 'I had a dream, and most of my dreams came true and more, y'know?' You couldn't invent my story."

Backstreet Boys Say Justin Timberlake Influenced A Song On Their Christmas Album

Backstreet Boys first holiday album, A Very Backstreet Christmas will be out on October 14.

Band members AJ McLean and Nick Carter told Variety that they found inspiration in a possibly surprising place… Justin Timberlake's song, "Can't Stop The Feeling."

Carter, said it's funny because there's all this stuff about Backstreet versus NSYNC, but when it comes down to it, it's all about good songs. And referring to the movie that the song appeared in… he said they all watched Trolls with their kids.

They both agreed that Justin wrote a really great song that was uplifting and they wanted to do the same thing. So they wrote "Happy Days."

They said, "Especially with the way the world is right now. It was like, 'Let's put some positive stuff out there."

The holiday record will feature classics like "White Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland" as well as original music. The first single, a cover of Wham!'s "Last Christmas," has already been released.

Billy Joel Remembers 9/11

Sunday (September 11th) marks the 21st anniversary of the horrendous 9/11 attacks. Lifelong New Yorker Billy Joel reflected back on 9/11 and told us that although the events of the day will obviously never be forgiven or forgotten, New York's strength and resilience should never be in doubt: "We'll never forget. Nah, I don't think it'll be forgotten, but I think we've recovered a good deal. I know once they nailed (Osama) Bin Laden -- that's another thing that put it behind us. I don't know, this city has great resolution. There's a lot of resolve, there's a lot of character here. You're not gonna keep this place down."

Billy, who performed at both the September 21st America: A Tribute To Heroes telethon and the October 20th, 2001 Concert For New York City, explained that ego and career played literally no role in saluting the casualties of 9/11: "I felt kind of irrelevant, to tell you the truth. I'm glad they raised money and I'm glad I could do something. It wasn't nearly enough. I dunno, something like this makes you feel very inadequate, really. That was a feeling I was getting from people -- we were meeting and greeting backstage. . . kinda chagrined shrugs, like, 'Well, at least we can try to do something.'"

Billy Joel recalled his first visit to Ground Zero after his appearance on the September 21st telethon: "I actually got a lot more out of going down to ground zero. And right after I did my song, I jumped into a squad car with a cop, and we drove downtown, and they took me through the whole site. And I stayed there for about four hours, just talking to cops and firemen. That was absolutely mind-boggling. I felt like I was at least in contact with the people who were right there. It felt. . . As bizarre as the, the scene was, and as horrendous as the carnage was, I felt like I was having more first-hand contact with those people than going on television."

Billy recalls both the devastation and bravery he saw in the rescue workers: "They were actually surprised I didn't have a camera man, or a politician, or a photographer, or an entourage with me. They actually appreciated I was just there as a private citizen, trying to boost their morale and thank them. They needed to talk and tell people their stories, because there are so many stories they have to tell about comrades that were lost, and the horrors that they've seen."

Billy recalled that during his visit, he could see the toll the rescue work was taking on the people he was speaking with: "Are you familiar with a, a painting that was done in World War II called 'The Thousand Yard Stare'? Well, I saw a lot of that look when I was down there, and these guys, they're, they're very determined. They're very resolute, but they're also somewhat shell-shocked. And a lot of the guys have that 'Thousand Yard Stare' look."

Deluxe Box Set Celebrates The Kinks' Early-'70s Classics

The wait is over for Kinks fans today (September 9th) with the band's massive super deluxe box set featuring 1971's Muswell Hillbillies and the following year's Everybody's In Show-Biz - Everybody's A Star -- along with assorted outtakes and remixes. The set, which spotlights the band's beloved initial releases for the RCA imprint, is now available as a deluxe box set, along with a double-CD, single-LP, double-LP, and digital versions.

Muswell Hillbillies built upon the success of 1970's Lola Versus Powerman And The Moneygoround, Part One -- and played a key role in influencing the burgeoning pub rock scene in Britain, with Everybody's In Show-Biz - Everybody's A Star featuring the group's instant classic "Celluloid Heroes" -- along with a full album recorded live at Manhattan's Carnegie Hall.

Primary songwriter Ray Davies recalled the period for the Kinks and said in the new package's press release:

Now with a new record company and a new image, I could bring some of the old wild western spirit into my music. These albums capture the re-emergence of the Kinks as a touring band.

Lead guitarist Dave Davies admitted:

Muswell Hillbillies is one-of my favorite Kinks albums. It's a bit of a backstory to the Davies family and the characters involved.

Ray Davies says that although he's technically a "singer/songwriter" what he reveals in his songs is just as honest as any other composer -- it's just not always about him: "I find characters to write about and I become those characters. I think that's the way I write songs. I'm not the central character as a rule. So, people know the Kinks music, and they know Ray Davies songs -- but they don't necessarily know who I am."

Dave Davies told us that making the move from the London-based Pye Records to the American conglomerate RCA played a role in the Kinks tipping their hat towards their American influences: "Muswell Hillbillies was a big thing for us. RCA were very up for the deal and Muswell Hillbillies virtually kicked it off. I always loved slide guitar anyway, and we came in trying to use a more American-ized technique on the guitars. So, it was a chance to do a lot of things differently -- new to us."

Dave shed light in how he and brother Ray formulated the sound of Everybody's In Show-Biz - Everybody's A Star: "The songs came to light -- Ray's ideas. . . we sat down and we knew that we were gonna tour America and we want to maximize it. So, we thought we'd. . . gettin' the brass onstage with us may be really helpful musically. The Showbiz album had grown out of just touring America."

Julian Lennon Returns With First New Album In Over A Decade

Out today (September 9th) is Julian Lennon's latest album, Jude, which marks his first since 2011's Everything Changes. The album's name comes from the Beatles' song "Hey Jude" -- which Paul McCartney originally wrote for Julian as "Hey Jules."

In the album's original press release, Julian shed light on the new material, explaining, "Many of these songs have been in the works for several years, so it almost feels like a coming-of-age album. With great respect for the overwhelming significance of the song written for me, the title Jude conveys the very real journey of my life that these tracks represent."

Julian Lennon explained how recovering dozens of reels of lost tapes actually helped him shape the new album: "I found a box of all my earlier work on all kinds of different tapes. I was shocked what was in there, 'cause they had the original 'Too Late For Goodbyes,' the original demos that I went to the village of Valotte (with). All kinds of tapes from over the last 30, 40 years. And I found a lot of earlier work, like 'Every Little Moment' and there's another song on the album, too, 'Not One Night,' that I recorded at home in my home studio in L.A. over 30 years ago."

The Beatles Release Full Details On 'Revolver' Box Set

Set for release on October 28th is the Beatles' Revolver, available in several special editions. In addition to a slew of previously unheard takes from the original album sessions, Revolver's 14 tracks have been newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell in stereo and Dolby Atmos, and the album's original mono mix is sourced from its 1966 mono master tape. The set will also be avaialbe in four-LP and two-CD sets.

According to the official announcement:

All the new Revolver releases feature the album's new stereo mix, sourced directly from the original four-track master tapes. The audio is brought forth in stunning clarity with the help of cutting edge de-mixing technology developed by the award-winning sound team led by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson's WingNut Films Productions Ltd.

The physical and digital Super Deluxe collections also feature the album's original mono mix, 28 early takes from the sessions and three home demos, and a four-track EP with new stereo mixes and remastered original mono mixes for "Paperback Writer" and "Rain." The album's new Dolby Atmos mix will be released digitally.

The press release also described one of the box set's crown jewels -- a John Lennon "work tape" of him composing the Ringo Starr standout track -- "Yellow Submarine":

Parts 1 and 2 of the Special Edition's songwriting work tape for "Yellow Submarine" reveal the song's evolution from a rather sad verse sung by John over acoustic guitar – "In the town where I was born / No one cared, no one cared…" – to its adaptation by John and Paul to suit the jollier subject matter of the chorus.

In 1966 at the time of Revolver, John Lennon and Paul McCartney sat down with the BBC and shed light on their songwriting partnership. Lennon was asked if after so many year's experience they each actually needed a partner to compose new material: "(John Lennon): No, not really -- but it helps a lot. You get another point of view, as well. (Paul McCartney): The thing is, because we can do them on our own, but, one of us will just do a song and there will be one verse in it that's very bad, or something -- or it's very corny or. . . and if I've written it, then I'll, sort of, take it along and sing it to John (laughs) and he'll say, 'That verse is terrible and that verse is corny.' (Lennon): You still get so involved with something, you finish it, if you're on your own, you haven't got the energy to go over it and, sort of, see, y'know, if it really makes exactly what you want. So, if you sing it over to each other -- even if it's a finished song, y'know, with almost the arrangement, you're still, sort of, 'Yes that's fine.'"

Bruce Springsteen Headlining 2022 'Stand Up For Heroes Benefit' In NYC

On November 7th, Bruce Springsteen will once again headline the annual "Stand Up For Heroes" benefit taking place this year at Manhattan's David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Deadline.com reported in addition to Springsteen and Jon Stewart, who appears every year, this year's comedy event will also feature Amber Iman, the Lumineers, Hasan Minhaj, Jeff Ross, and Iliza Shlesinger, with more to be announced. The event kicks off the 16th annual New York Comedy Festival and is but one of over 100 performances held across New York City between November 7th and 13th.

Bruce Springsteen has long been a supporter of the U.S.-based "Stand Up For Heroes" benefit, serving the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which provides aid to those who have sustained the "hidden injuries of war," and has raised over $60 million and helped over one million veterans, service members, and their families since it began.

Springsteen has long maintained that his live performances are the backbone of his career, which connects him not only to the audience and his bandmates, but ultimately to himself: "I knew that the most important thing to me was when I walked out -- whether it was in a little bar on any stage, how it made me feel. Because I wanna do -- find some way in. Some way to be a part of, I guess, a community that was either really there or that I imagined. That I dreamt of."

Lewis Capaldi Reveals He Has Tourette Syndrome

Lewis Capaldi revealed on Instagram Live that he's been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome.

The 25-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter noted that he's always had it despite not always knowing it. Capaldi explained that his shoulder twitches often because of it and his doctor prescribed Botox for his shoulder and that helped a bit.

He said: "The worst thing about it is when I'm excited I get it, when I'm stressed I get it, when I'm happy I get it. It happens all the time.

Capaldi says that sometimes when people notice it, they accuse him of doing cocaine, and he wanted to clear that up, it's not cocaine, it's Tourette's syndrome.

He explained that it's involuntary and some days it's more painful than others and it comes and goes.

Melissa Etheridge Set For Off-Broadway Run Next Month

Melissa Etheridge will undertake a 12-show off-Broadway residency next month. The run, which is dubbed "My Window: A Journey Through Life," is set to run at Manhattan's New World Stages on October 14th, 15th, 16th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th.

According to the official press release:

Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Melissa Etheridge has lit up airwaves and arenas across the world for more than two decades with instant classics like "I'm The Only One," "Come To My Window," "I Want To Come Over," and more.

In her world premiere theatrical solo show My Window - A Journey Through Life, the Grammy and Academy Award-winning singer/songwriter offers an intimate experience like never before, inviting theatergoers into an exhilarating evening of storytelling and music. From tales of her childhood in Kansas to her groundbreaking career highlights -- with all of life's hits and deep cuts between -- Etheridge opens her heart & soul on stage to fearlessly dazzle audiences of all generations.

A while back, Melissa Etheridge explained being aware at an early age how writing personally and fully from the heart could connect her with an audience immediately: "From a time when I was very young I would discover that when I wrote personally, when I wrote from something that was truly in my heart and soul, people would respond to it. So I kept going down that road and it constantly was proved to me that the more personal I got -- the more universal."

Etheridge says that luckily, her pipes are not only intact, but these days, she's actually singing better than ever: "I think my voice is in better shape than it's ever been. I think I've learned how to take care of my body and that makes my voice stronger. I really didn't get that when I was younger. And just sort of wisdom through the years; you can just sort of reach into that on the performances."

Ozzy Osbourne Wants To Be Back On Stage By Next Summer

Ozzy Osbourne has set a goal for himself: to be back onstage by next summer. The rock legend, who is recovering from several surgeries as well as the effects of PRKN 2, told Kerrang!, "I've just got to get back into a rhythm again. My balance is all f*cked up, but I've got to keep going. I mean, I'll probably always have a limp. But I don't mind, as long as I can f*ckin' walk around without falling on my head."

He continued, "I have a goal: that next summer I will be onstage. If I put every effort into it and I still can't, at least I can't say that I haven't tried."

Perry Farrell Credits His Own Record Label For Studio Resurgence

Perry Farrell is running hot in the studio these days, prepping work for all three of his bands -- Jane's Addiction, Porno For Pyros, and Kind Heaven Orchestra. Farrell confirmed that original Jane's bassist Eric Avery is firmly back in the fold, telling NME, "Yes, and we recorded three songs with him. That Jane's rhythm section is back. I feel like making music, and I don't want to wait around for anyone to tell me that I'm worth it so I'm just going to put it together."

Farrell spoke about the liberation his new Imprint Label has had on his creativity across his musical palatte: "I invited Eric to participate in songwriting, I went up to Johnny Depp's place and laid down seven or eight songs. Some of them are Kind Heaven Orchestra, some of them are Porno's, some of them are Jane's Addiction. Everybody contributed. Now I have these songs, I hang on to them and to me they're valuable. I don't need anyone to tell me what they're worth. I can put them out at a pace, and it could be six months or eight months or wait a year. If I want to, I can drop one next week, but I wouldn't. You want to have a grand carriage for your songs. But, I don't have 50 other things that I have to drop. I can really dress the window myself, because it's my own store."

Regarding Jane's Addiction's upcoming tour with Smashing Pumpkins, Farrell said, "We're building a really well-produced show. A record is one thing but if you're going to bother to appear then you're performing, so the performance is going to be incredible. Wardrobe, video, dancers, it's all going to be there."

Jane's Addiction will always be based around the electricity generated between Perry Farrell and Dave Navaro. Upon reuniting in 2001, Farrell told us how he and Navaro worked hard at about fixing their broken relationship. "We had a chance to sit down and have a good cry about, he felt I wasn't his friend, and I felt he wasn't my friend. Y'know, friendship is a little bit different than making music together. It really is. There's something, maybe, even higher about making music together and there's something, maybe, more personal about being friends. But I always look forward to playing music with him."

A previously unseen minute-long bit of footage featuring John Lennon and Ringo Starr leaving the Dakota in 1979 has made its way onto YouTube. Although the footage is listed as being in November, it's most likely that the clip -- featuring a clean-shaven Lennon -- was shot during Ringo's visit on May 29th of that year.

They year before the '79 Dakota footage was shot, Ringo joked about the solo Beatles' relationships during an appearance on The Mike Douglas Show: "This week me and George (Harrison) are very close (laughter.) This week it's me and George. Tomorrow it could be John and I. . . Y'know, it goes 'round. It depends where we are. If I'm in New York, I'm very close to John (laughter) -- 'cause he lives there (laughter)."
